Karen Danbom, Jim Kaplan, Rupa Mitra and Dave Olday will retire this spring from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Danbom graduated from the University of North Dakota and taught for 15 years at North Dakota State University before joining MSUM's elementary and early childhood education department in 1992.

Kaplan, who graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, started his career as an escort-interpreter for the U.S. Department of State in Washington. He then taught French for a year at UCLA before joining the MSUM languages department in 1975.

Mitra joined the MSUM faculty in 1986. She graduated from Jadavpur University in Calcutta and North Dakota State University. She taught at the Louisiana School for Math and Science, Natchitoches, before joining MSUM in 1986.

Olday graduated from Washington State University. He taught for two years at a branch of Kent State and three years at Washington State before joining MSUM's sociology department in 1975, which he chaired from 2001-05.
