Prosecutors have added a murder charge to the case against one of the suspects in Orvin Berg's death.
David Lynn Hieb, 22, is one of three men who were charged in Cass County District Court with conspiracy to commit murder in the November death of the 50-year-old Berg. Hieb also has been charged with murder, Assistant State's Attorney Aaron Birst said.
The additional charge, also a Class AA felony, could make it easier for prosecutors to lay out their case to jurors, Birst said.
Hieb's trial is scheduled to start July 25.
The other two suspects, James William Thompson III and Travis Allen Jenkins, previously pleaded guilty to murder conspiracy charges.
