As usual, Bismarck High School's football team ran the football. But the Demons showed they can pass too during Friday night's 34-10 win at Fargo North.

While running the ball for 236 yards - with 176 coming in the second half - Bismarck's left-handed, sophomore quarterback Esley Thorton threw for 211 yards in the season opener for both teams.

"We've got a young man who can chuck it around a little bit," said Bismarck head coach Mark Gibson.
