N.D. sets restrictions on state roadways

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is posting load restrictions on several state roadways beginning Wednesday. The posting of these restrictions means the waiver on hay hauling will be canceled the same day.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is posting load restrictions on several state roadways beginning Wednesday. The posting of these restrictions means the waiver on hay hauling will be canceled the same day.

Load restrictions are being placed on N.D. 200 and all roadways south of N.D. 200 from the Minnesota state line to U.S. 85. Additional routes to be posted are N.D. 1806 and N.D. 8 south of Lake Sakakawea, N.D. 22 from the junction of N.D. 73, south, and N.D. 16 from the junction of N.D. 68, south.

NDDOT uses load restrictions to reduce damage to roadways caused by heavy weights at a time of year when highway surfaces are most vulnerable. The department sets load restrictions as weather and roadbed conditions require, and lifts them when roadbeds are dry enough to carry traffic without damage.

Load restriction information is available on the Internet at www.discovernd.com/dot/load_restrict.html , or by calling the Department of Transportation at (701) 239-8900 or the Highway Patrol at (701) 239-8960.
