MAHNOMEN, Minn. -- A Naytahwaush man died Saturday in a pickup rollover on Highway 59 near the city's airport.
Gerald James Ironshield, 20, died at the scene of the accident, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The roadway was icy.
Five other people were in the pickup, including the driver, Steven Allen Abelman, 19, of Ponsford. He lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, the State Patrol said. Abelman was ejected from the pickup and pinned beneath it until emergency personnel arrived.
Abelman was airlifted Sunday morning from Mahnomen Health Center to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. A report on his condition was unavailable.
The other passengers were taken to Mahnomen Health Center. They are Tanya Lynn Garbow, 22; Daniel Owen Garbow, 15; Joseph Terrance Brown, 18; and Rueben Edward Burnette, 12, all of Naytahwaush. Reports on their conditions were unavailable.
