The National Endowment for the Arts has given the North Dakota Council on the Arts a $30,000 grant through its Folk and Traditional Arts Infrastructure Initiative.

The award will support the statewide Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program and other related costs such as fieldwork, and audio/photo documentation of North Dakota's diverse folk artists and traditions. The Apprenticeship Program allows master traditional artists to pass their knowledge and skills to apprentices in an intensive one-on-one teaching/learning situation.

The North Dakota Council on the Arts is the state agency responsible for the support and development of the arts throughout North Dakota and is funded by the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
