FARGO — North Dakota motorists are paying the lowest price for gas in more than two years, according to AAA Auto Club Group. The last time the statewide average was lower than today’s average of $2.16 was Dec. 21, 2016.
Gas prices are down 74 cents since early October 2018, as the price of oil plummeted 40 percent during the final quarter of 2018. Since the first of the year, the North Dakota average is down 8 cents. The average one year ago was $2.48.
The bottom for pump prices may be near, however, as oil has seen a slow, but steady, increase since the beginning of the year, according to AAA. The national average for gas increased a penny last week, the first increase in the average since October.
