WAHPETON, N.D. - A soldier's death during a training weekend here is being investigated.

Capt. Dan Murphy with the North Dakota National Guard told WDAY-TV that an area soldier with the 188th Engineer Company, based out of Wahpeton and Oakes, is believed to have died by suicide during training last weekend.

The man, whose name has not been released, has been in the Guard for less than six years and was deployed to Kuwait in 2011.

Officials did not release the details of the man's death, but said the Wahpeton Police Department is investigating the case.
