BISMARCK - Applications are now being accepted to serve on the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education.

Current board member Richie Smith, of Wahpeton, resigned May 15, creating the vacancy.

The nominating committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. July 30 and forward three nominations for the position to the governor's office. After being appointed by Gov. Jack Dalrymple, the new board member must be confirmed by the North Dakota Senate.
