CAVALIER, N.D.-A 45-year-old woman from here died Saturday night in a Pembina County rollover crash while being chased by police.
Just before 8 p.m., the Pembina County Sheriff's department received a report of a reckless driver northbound on Highway 18 two miles south of Cavalier. The report said the vehicle was swerving and almost rear-ended another vehicle.
A deputy caught up to the vehicle south of Cavalier and, when the driver would not stop, pursued the vehicle on Highway 18 through the town and then east on Highway 5 at high speeds.
East of Cavalier, the woman, driving a 2010 Kia Soul SUV, drove into a ditch, struck a field approach and rolled. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt and was critically injured.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, where she died.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
