The North Dakota Department of Health's Division of Vital Records is working to help Louisiana-born hurricane evacuees currently in North Dakota obtain birth certificates from their home state.
The department is working through the National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems, which has developed procedures in conjunction with Louisiana that states may follow to assist impacted evacuees.
