North Dakota State University's interim president is a semifinalist for president of Bemidji (Minn.) State University and Northwest Technical College.
Dick Hanson is among five semifinalists announced this week for the position.
The president oversees the university as well as the two-year college in Bemidji. Roland Barden, former Minnesota State University Moorhead president, is chairman of the search committee.
Hanson will be in Bemidji for interviews on April 22-23.
Hanson said the search consultant contacted him and asked him to apply for the presidency. The committee had his materials more than two weeks ago, Hanson said.

Hanson applied to be permanent president of NDSU, but a search committee eliminated him from consideration on March 24.
"I think my hat was in the ring at Bemidji before the search committee tossed me out here," Hanson said.
Hanson said other search consultants have contacted him, but the Bemidji search is the only one he's in currently.
Jon Quistgaard, president of Bemidji State and Northwest Technical College, plans to retire this summer.
The other semifinalists are Linda Krug, who is on sabbatical as dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Duluth; Betsy Vogel Boze, senior fellow at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities; Jason Laker, associate vice principal and dean of student affairs at Queen's University in Ontario; and Philip Williams, president of the University of Montevallo in Alabama.
