Former Fargo dentist Dr. John Bartley and former Fargo physician C.M. "Connie" Hunter were in a Neighbors column awhile ago, thanks to John's son John Bartley Jr., Fargo, who sent in a story about them.
"The memories of the good old days stirred by this article made my day," Dr. Lyle Thorstenson writes.
Lyle, now of Nacogdoches, Texas, has a tie-in with these folks. He and John Bartley Jr. were classmates at Agassiz Junior High School, Fargo, then at Fargo Central High School in 1966, the year Central burned down. They, along with Moorhead High School athletic director Don Hulbert, later shared a duplex owned by John's father in 1971-72.
Lyle also says Connie Hunter was his family's doctor. "He played a significant role in my choice of careers," he says. "He was a great doctor and a great person."
Background on Lyle: Besides Agassiz and Fargo Central, he also attended Grace Lutheran School, Fargo, Minnesota State University Moorhead and North Dakota State University, all of which, he writes, "served me well."

He taught at Benjamin Franklin Junior High School, Fargo, from 1970 to 1973. He's had an ophthalmology practice in Nacogdoches for 25 years.
Lyle makes it a point to come back to Fargo at least every other year because "I am fond of the Red River Valley and I never want to lose my connections and memories."
Now he's hoping to make contact with John Bartley Jr. again.
If they connect, these two former classmates will have a lot of memories to kick around.
