A while ago, Neighbors carried a story about a man who was down and out due to alcohol and other factors and who one day showed up at the Salvation Army in Fargo.
Staff people there prayed for him, and eventually he licked his alcohol addiction, received occupational training and got a job. Now he's helping other men with deep problems.
That column led Doug Folden, Fargo, to write in, "It always blesses my socks off to hear stories of changed lives when prayer and God get involved. Thank you, Lord!"
Amen, Doug.
Growing old with Don

The Don McNeill Breakfast Club, of past radio days, continues to bring back memories.
Someone who didn't leave his or her name recently dropped off a "Don McNeill Breakfast Club Show Album" at The Forum for Neighbors.
The person leaving it said she or he found it at a yard sale.
The album is a script for the show. It doesn't give the year, but it says that McNeill was 43 at the time.
It includes an article about aging that was read on the show. It reads, in part:
"Nobody grows old merely living a number of years; people grow old only by deserting their ideals.
"Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair ... these are the long, long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.
"You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair."

This is typical of the kind of programming featured on the Club.
