NEVIS, Minn. -- A 36-year-old Nevis man is recovering from injuries after his snowmobile crashed into a tree.

Douglas Hanson's snowmobile left a groomed trail about 6½ miles north of Nevis, hitting a large tree, said the Hubbard County Sheriff's Department.

The accident happened about 8 p.m. Tuesday. Following the crash, Hanson was taken into a private residence before emergency personnel arrived.

He later was airlifted to MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. A hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday no condition report was available.
