Randy Newman, president and CEO of Alerus Financial, has been named the 2008 Banker of the Year by the NorthWestern Financial Review publication.
The award honors a prominent banker each year who has provided outstanding service to the industry, their bank and the community.
Newman received the award based on his leadership of Alerus Financial and his contributions to the Red River Valley.
Since 2002, the full-service financial services organization has purchased five trust, retirement, investment adviser and property manage companies, opened a commercial banking office in Minnetonka, Minn., and built two new branches in Fargo and West Fargo.
