Frankie Muniz stars with Anthony Anderson and Hannah Spearrit in "Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London," which opens today. The film is a sequel to the 2003 hit "Agent Cody Banks."
Early years: Francisco James Muniz IV was born Dec. 5, 1985, in Ridgewood, N.J. He was raised in Knightdale, N.C. Muniz has been home-schooled since sixth grade. His first acting role was that of Tiny Tim in a local production of "A Christmas Carol," a role he reprised the next two seasons. He also appeared in regional productions of "The Sound of Music," "The Wizard of Oz," and "Our Town."
Career: Muniz found his way into the world of acting despite never having taken an acting class. He made his television debut in the television movie "To Dance With Olivia" (1997), and he next appeared in the CBS presentation "What the Deaf Man Heard" (1999), a role that led up to the breakthrough that would make him a household name. "Malcolm in the Middle" premiered on FOX in 2000, and Muniz was nominated for Golden Globes in 2000 and 2001 and was honored with the Hollywood Reporter Young Star Award for his work as the title character in the series. He has appeared in films such as "My Dog Skip" (2000), "Deuces Wild" (2002), "Agent Cody Banks," and has done voice work in "Dr. Doolittle 2" (2001), "The Fairly Odd Parents" (2001), and "The Simpsons" (2001).
Family: His father is a restaurant manager. His mother is a former nurse. He lives with his mother and older sister in Los Angeles.
In his words: "I'm not into teenage things, which I guess makes me different. I'm into just working and doing what I have to do to get my work done. I have a serious attitude about getting everything done well."
