Nonprofit donates more than 100 PCs in Moorhead

MOORHEAD — Over 100 families of students at Moorhead's Horizon West Middle School will be receiving computers from the nonprofit PCs for People at a giveaway event Monday, Sept. 30.

The event is taking place at the Inspire Innovation Lab, 423 Main Ave., in Moorhead from 4 to 7 p.m. Families were pre-selected by the nonprofit as they are 200% below the poverty level or currently enrolled in a government income-based assistance program.

The organization has distributed over 80,000 computers, connected over 30,000 families to the internet and recycled over 3.5 million pounds of technology.

Spokesperson Tina Stennes said PCs for People strives to help the communities that donate computers to them.

"The city of Fargo ... donated our computers and we refurbished them," Stennes said. "And now they would like us to put them back into the communities, which is the major point of the event."
