North Dakota's appliance rebate program will begin Tuesday morning, offering $150 rebates to consumers who replace old refrigerators with an energy-efficient unit.

The details were announced at a news conference in Bismarck this morning.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, North Dakota residents can apply for a rebate at www.ndenergystarrebate.com . Once they print out the form, they have 30 days to buy a full-size refrigerator and submit the application and proof of purchase to the Department of Commerce.

The old refrigerator must be recycled.

There are about 3,800 rebates available. A waiting list will accommodate about 1,800 people.

North Dakota received $615,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund the rebate program.
