North Dakota delegation asks for Amtrak bridge plan

WASHINGTON - Sens. Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad and Rep. Earl Pomeroy are pressing Amtrak to put a plan together that will help continue rail service for North Dakotans.

WASHINGTON - Sens. Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad and Rep. Earl Pomeroy are pressing Amtrak to put a plan together that will help continue rail service for North Dakotans.

The continued rise of Devils Lake threatens the closure of a railroad bridge near Churchs Ferry, N.D., which is used by Amtrak. This would affect passenger service to Grand Forks, Devils Lake and Rugby.

The delegation has said it will continue to work to secure federal funding to address the bridge problem once Amtrak submits a plan to address it.
