FARGO - North University Drive detours will be lifted during the weekend, just in time for the North Dakota State University football home opener on Saturday, according to a North Dakota Department of Transportation release.
NDDOT states that there will be several other traffic changes in the following weeks:
- Northbound traffic from 12th Avenue to 17th Avenue North has been shifted onto 10th Street North from the University Drive detour.
- Both lanes of 10th Street North are scheduled to be open by the end of the week. Until then, one lane of northbound traffic will be open to motorists as crews complete minor work such as permanent striping, signage and cleanup.
- University Drive will continue to have one southbound lane of traffic open as minor work continues in the other lane. Both lanes will be temporarily open during the Labor Day weekend. The NDDOT warns that one lane may need to be closed again after this weekend to complete remaining project needs.

The scope of the project included improving load-carrying capacity, ride quality, pedestrian facilities, drainage, lighting and safety features, the NDDOT said. The project also updated traffic signals, and storm sewer, water main and sanitary sewer systems.
