TAPPEN, N.D. - One person was killed in a rollover accident early this morning on a rural road half a mile north of here in Kidder County.
A pickup was traveling north on 39th Avenue S.E. from Tappen when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control at about 1 a.m., according to Sgt. Dan Haugen of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The pickup entered the west ditch, struck an approach and rolled. Both occupants were thrown from the truck, according to Haugen's report. Neither was wearing seatbelts.
Scott Lindegard, 24, of Hallock, Minn., was transported to Sanford Health for medical treatment. His condition wasn't immediately available. The other occupant, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash, including who was actually driving the pickup, remains under investigation, Haugen said. The Kidder County Sheriff's Office also is involved.
