One man killed in Enbridge pipeline explosion in Texas

A man died on Tuesday in an explosion in Texas involving a gas pipeline belonging to Enbridge, news website KSLA.com said.

The pipeline in Rusk County was leaking but as of 6:35 p.m. CDT emergency officials said it had been shut.

"One man was killed in a natural gas pipeline explosion in southeastern Rusk County," the website said, quoting county officials.

It said the pipeline had been broken by a tractor and, quoting a local official, said the dead man was part of a mowing team working in the area.

According to the Texas Railroad Commission, the majority of the pipelines in the area carry natural gas, the report said. The explosion was about 12 miles southeast of Henderson, which is 140 miles east of Dallas.
