Palma "Polly" Mumm, 83, Wahpeton, ND, passed away, Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at her home in Wahpeton.

The funeral will be Monday, July 12, 2004, 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Alan Werth officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM with a 7:30 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Palma Irene Thorson was born on June 14, 1921, the youngest child of Edward and Mary (Hendrickson) Thorson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church and educated in the Lidgerwood, North Dakota schools.

She was united in marriage to Detlaf Walter Mumm on the 30th day of December, 1938. They moved to a farm southwest of Wahpeton in 1940, and she lived there until 1979 when she moved to her present home on 2nd Street in Wahpeton. Detlaf died on February 20, 1977.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Farm Bureau, Sunny Circle Homemakers, and loved traveling and music.

She is survived by her five children; and 19 grandchildren; 2 sons, Dale (Bonnie) Mumm, their children: Kyle & Stacey Enochson, Rev. Tim & Susan Geitz, Hicham & Sheryl Touailat, Dustin & Kristin Mumm, Brad & Nola Steier; Diane Gehler, her children, Lynette Hallman, Michael & Lorrie Hervey, Chris & Brenda Hintze, Tim & Colleen Bakewell, Dayton & Theresa Gehler; Paulette Ness, her children, Steven & Rebekah Ness, Jeff & Sharon Dickerson, Jason & Tiffany Ness, Brian Ness; Paul (Elizabeth) Mumm, their children, Adam & Ann Mumm, Chuck & Heather Hoerer, April Mumm; Linda (Carlton) Anderson, their children, Daniel Anderson and Matthew Anderson; 30 great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Mumm, Lidgerwood, and Alma Koeplin, San Jose, CA; and honorary children, Harold and Marlene Buckhouse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Thorson; her husband, Detlaf, 1977; a son-in-law, Larry Gehler; twin granddaughters, Rachael & Rebecca Gehler; a great grandson, David Hallman; brothers, Grant, Edgar, Clarence, Arthur and Henry Thorson.
