A 45-year-old Park Rapids, Minn., man has been accused of trying to kill his wife and another man during a weekend stabbing incident.

Timothy Leo Helm, 45, faces two counts of attempted murder in the first degree and second-degree assault in Hubbard County District Court.

He was being held Tuesday in the Hubbard County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Helm faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted on the attempted murder charges.

Police in Park Rapids were called to Helm's home early Saturday after they received a report of an armed assault.

A woman walking by the house heard screaming coming from inside the home, according to court records.

Later, Charissa Helm, the 20-year-old daughter of Timothy Helm, arrived and told police her father had stabbed her mother and another man.

She rushed Vanessa Helm, 45, and William Hamblin, 22, to a hospital after they were stabbed, she told authorities.

Court records say:

Timothy Helm exited the home and was arrested without incident. His clothing was stained with blood.

When asked what had happened, he told police: "I can't take it anymore. My wife is having an affair with a 22-year-old. I had enough. I just snapped."

In a police interview, Charissa Helm said she saw her father stabbing her mother.

Vanessa Helm told police she awoke early Saturday to find Timothy Helm on top of her, stabbing her with a knife.

Vanessa Helm had obtained a restraining order against Timothy Helm previously and reported he had threatened to "take her out."

Vanessa Helm and Hamblin were no longer listed as patients Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids.
