Gov. Tim Pawlenty is seeking federal aid for counties in northwestern Minnesota affected by spring flooding.
Pawlenty has requested a presidential disaster declaration for nine counties, where floodwaters caused an estimated $8.5 million in damages, according to a news release.
The declaration would make counties eligible for disaster unemployment assistance, individual and household assistance, small-business loans, crisis counseling and low-interest farming loans.
Counties included in the disaster declaration are Clay, Becker, Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Polk, Red Lake, Roseau and Wilkin.
