Pedestrian dies two days after being hit by minivan
ST. PAUL -- A 66-year-old pedestrian has died from her injuries after a minivan struck her as she was crossing White Bear Avenue in St. Paul, police said.
Xey Yang of St. Paul was in a crosswalk at 6:15 p.m. last Wednesday when she was struck by a minivan heading south on White Bear Avenue at the intersection with Idaho Avenue. She was taken to Regions Hospital with severe head injuries and died late Friday, Sgt. Paul Paulos said.
There was no indication that the man whose van struck her was speeding or under the influence of alcohol, police said. Nu Poe, 19, of St. Paul, remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. He was not arrested or cited at the scene; the police investigation continues.
