KERKHOVEN, Minn. - An aerial sprayer crash-landed Tuesday afternoon in a cornfield southeast of Kerkhoven, the Swift County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Investigation of the scene showed that Douglas Jackson, 54, of Benson, was spraying a soybean field about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday when he hit a guy wire for a power pole, causing the plane’s engine to shut off.
Jackson said he did not see the guide wire and tried landing on the road before the crash-landing in the cornfield south of U.S. Highway 12 along Kandiyohi County Road 39. He was not injured.
Deputies contacted the Federal Aviation Administration. The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating further Wednesday.
