Police pleased by sobriety checkpoint results in north Fargo

FARGO - Police here made no arrests during a sobriety checkpoint early Friday in north Fargo.

A total of 27 vehicles entered the checkpoint from 12:30 to 3 a.m. in the 1100 block of 10th Street North.

Two vehicles were flagged for further testing, and one citation was issued for an open alcohol container.

"We are encouraged by the results of this checkpoint," Sgt. Ryan Dorrheim stated in a news release. "Officers will continue efforts to educate citizens about the dangers of drinking and driving."

Fargo police have another sobriety checkpoint scheduled sometime between Sept. 10 and 16.

Since October 2004, the Police Department has conducted 57 sobriety checkpoints resulting in 168 arrests for DUI.
