Police say suspect won't be charged in attack

Police say they've identified the man who attacked a 22-year-old in her south Fargo home last week but haven't arrested him because the victim doesn't want to press charges, Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

Police say they've identified the man who attacked a 22-year-old in her south Fargo home last week but haven't arrested him because the victim doesn't want to press charges, Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

The assault was reported at 8:45 a.m. May 26 at 1740 40th St. S. The female resident of the apartment told officers a man entered through an unlocked patio door and threw her against a wall, Lykken said.

Police believe the woman knows the man suspected in the assault, but she isn't interested in testifying, so police aren't recommending charges, Lykken said.

If the victim changes her mind, the suspect can still be charged any time within the next two years, police said.
