FARGO – An attempted robbery at the Vista Inn & Suites in south Fargo late Wednesday led police to search the area with multiple squad cars and a K-9 unit, but they weren't able to locate a suspect by 1 a.m. Thursday.
A man walked in the north door of the hotel at 1340 21st Ave. S. just before 11 p.m., told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money, according to police.
Fargo police Sgt. Chris Nichtern said the man did not show a weapon and no one was injured.
Nichtern said police were searching for a slender black male suspect, 19 to 23 years old, wearing a gray T-shirt and white shorts. The hotel clerk told police he believed the suspect fled the area in an older red car, possibly with other people inside it.
Police were looking through surveillance footage at the hotel and neighboring businesses for any clues to his identity.

Nichtern said those images may be made available today.
Officers also tested the lobby of the hotel for possible fingerprints.
