MOORHEAD – Moorhead police set up a perimeter Wednesday night around Gooseberry Park in their search for a suspect who allegedly rammed a squad car.
Moorhead Police Sgt. Clint Stephenson said the suspect vehicle was originally spotted going the wrong way down Fifth Street at about 8:30 p.m.
The suspect vehicle fled and the officer decided not to pursue due to slick road conditions. A second Moorhead unit spotted the vehicle further south as it pulled into Gooseberry Park.
As the suspect's car turned around, it began to drive recklessly and struck the squad car, police said. There was minor damage to the vehicle and the officer was not hurt.
Initial reports indicate that the suspect, a white male with blond hair, fled from police and then exited his car near the park at 100 22nd. Ave. S.
