FARGO - A woman accused of shoplifting more than $600 worth of clothes from an area store when she was 37 weeks pregnant pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft charges Wednesday.
Crystal Turrubiates, 22, of Moorhead, pleaded guilty in Cass County District Court to one count of Class A misdemeanor theft of property and was sentenced to time served.
Court documents state that police officers were called to Kohl's at 4444 13th Ave. S. on July 29 on a report of a shoplifter.
When an officer arrested Turrubiates, she told him she "shouldn't even be here," and that she was on bed rest at 37 weeks pregnant. The average pregnancy is considered full term at 38 weeks.
Turrubiates told the arresting officer her other two children are beginning school and she did not have the money for clothes for them.
