FARGO - A preliminary audit report on the North Dakota State University president's house is complete, but it won't be finalized and available to the public until next month.
NDSU officials have received a draft copy of the audit. They have the opportunity to provide responses before the audit is a public record.
President Dick Hanson mentioned the audit Thursday while in Bemidji, Minn., while interviewing for a presidency there, reported the Bemidji Pioneer.
"I got a preliminary copy of the performance from the state. It is very embarrassing," Hanson said. "It's just awful. It's bad. It's been very hard and I've been very disappointed. But it will be ready for the next guy."
The audit stems from the state Board of Higher Education's request to the state auditor's office to analyze the president homes at both NDSU and the University of North Dakota.

The auditors also looked at other building projects in the North Dakota University System.
Other NDSU projects included in the audit are Richard H. Barry Hall and the remodeling of Old Main.
