A Gary, Minn., farmer faces misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after the Norman County prosecutor filed the case Wednesday, according to WDAY TV.
Duane Tilleraas,75, faces the charges based on a sheriff's investigation into the deaths of 40 cows on a farm this past winter.
A veterinarian tested the cows and found that they died from malnutrition. Tilleraas argues that the investigation was harassment and blamed the deaths on bad feed, WDAY reported.
Tilleraas is scheduled to appear on the charges in court next week.
