BISMARCK - The public can weigh in March 14 on a proposed Xcel Energy electric rate increase, the North Dakota Public Service Commission decided Wednesday morning.
Anyone who wants to seek formal intervention status to become a party in the case will have until March 28 to apply.
The public input sessions will be done simultaneously in four cities by interactive television. All will begin at 11:30 a.m.
- In Grand Forks, the site is the county Extension Service office in the Grand Forks County Office Building, Room 302.

- Fargo's session is hosted by the county Extension Service in the Cass County Annex's basement meeting room.
- The Minot site is in Minot High School's Magic City Campus.
- The Bismarck site is the PSC's meeting room in the Capitol.
Xcel (still known at the PSC as NSP) has applied for an increase that could raise the average North Dakota household's electric bill by $91 a year. The company would gain
$20 million in revenues.
All 85,000 Xcel electric customers in North Dakota would be affected.
