Raymond M. Nelson

Raymond Milton Nelson, 88, Fargo, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, in Bethany Nursing Home, Fargo.

Ray Nelson was born March 24, 1915, to Charles and Amelia Nelson in Big Lake, MN. He attended school in Dunbar Township, ND. Ray worked for several farmers near Forman, ND, and also worked at the Al Matson farm near Oakes, where he later became a half share partner. It was at the Matson farm where Ray developed his love of horses. He then moved to Forman, ND, where he farmed for 2 years on his parents' farm. His last move was to Fargo, where he was a construction worker at Gust Olson Concrete Co. for many years, until his eventual retirement in 1987. He later lived in Moorhead Manor, then Fairmont East retirement home, and Bethany Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Marvin, and Lawrence (Husky) and three sisters, Laura Brown, Edna Sandness and Doris Nelson.

He is survived by three brothers, Norman, Melford and Arlow, and 24 nieces and nephews.

Ray loved playing cards, eating good food, and being a grandpa-like figure to his many nieces and nephews and their children.

Funeral Services: Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 10:00 A.M., at the Mavis Whiting Chapel, Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday, 5-7 P.M. at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. and one hour prior to services at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.

Burial: Forman Cemetery, Forman, ND.
