FARGO -- The Red River is expected to reach 32.8 feet, surpassing the 30-foot major flood stage threshold, by next Saturday evening.

The National Weather Service predicts the river, now above 21 feet, will enter moderate flood stage, 25 feet, by Monday night. Major flood stage begins at 30 feet.

The weather service hasn't yet issued a crest prediction for the spring flood on the Red River in Fargo-Moorhead. It's latest flood outlook predicted there is a 50-percent chance the river could exceed 40.5 feet, which would nearly equal the record 2009 crest, 40.84 feet.
