River Keepers of Fargo is coordinating three events Monday aimed at increasing the Red River's use as a recreational destination.

  • Recreation on the Red: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, a series of panel presentation and discussions highlighting the recreational potential of the Red River, is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead. Registration, which includes lunch, is $25.
  • The 14th Annual Race the Red canoe and kayak races includes a 10-mile race at 5:30 p.m. and a fun two-mile race at 7 p.m. Both races begin at Lindenwood Park in Fargo.
  • The Lil' Fishermen's Derby and Clinic is from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dike East in Fargo. The clinic, which teaches the basics of fishing, is from 5 to 6 p.m. The derby, for ages 16 and under, is from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
