Rodriguez's sister to talk of death penalty

The sister of Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. plans to talk publicly for the first time about the death penalty's effect on her family.

Ileanna Noyes is slated to be part of a panel discussion hosted by the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the North Dakota State University Memorial Union gallery.

Rodriguez, who was convicted in Dru Sjodin's death, became the first death penalty case in North Dakota in a century.

The panel also willfeature Sister Yvonne Nelson of the Presentation Sisters and Cheryl Bergian, NDHRC executive director.

The discussion is free and open to the public, and is being held in conjunction with a death penalty photo exhibit.
