Authorities found a working meth lab Monday at an abandoned farmstead near Davenport, N.D., but no arrests have been made, Cass County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson said.
A passer-by reported the lab about 8 p.m. Sunday, and the next morning a sheriff's deputy and Fargo police officer investigated the scene. A hazardous waste team cleaned the site, which was cooking about an ounce of meth, Thoreson said.
Authorities in North Dakota found 275 meth labs in 2002. Lab seizures statewide have risen this year to about one a day.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department finds about 10 labs a year, Thoreson said.
