North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven said he likes the idea of a half-cent sales tax in Cass County to spur economic development.
In an interview Friday with WDAY AM radio, Hoeven said he supports the concept of the tax, which is being promoted by a group of local business leaders.
While Hoeven won't offi-cially endorse the plan, he said it would be an effective tool in attracting jobs to the county and boosting the re-gion's economy.
If approved, the tax would be in effect for 12 years. Cass County voters will decide the issue June 10.
