BISMARCK -- Rick Santorum's decision to stop his Republican presidential campaign leaves his North Dakota delegates in limbo.

North Dakota has 28 delegates to the August Republican National Convention in Tampa. They are all officially uncommitted to any candidate.

However, Santorum got 40 percent of the vote in North Dakota's February presidential caucuses. The result means Santorum normally would get at least 11 North Dakota votes. Delegates say North Dakota's caucus results should be reflected at the convention.

Santorum's decision to stop his campaign means North Dakota delegates may not have to vote for him at the national convention.

Former North Dakota Republican chairman Gary Emineth is Santorum's top campaign volunteer in North Dakota. Emineth couldn't immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
