Semi, pickup collide near Ulen, Minn.; three people taken to hospital

ULEN, Minn. - Three people were transported to the hospital this afternoon following a two-vehicle crash near here.

The incident, reported about 1:15 p.m., occured at the intersection of Clay County Road 33 and 140th Ave., just west and south of Ulen.

A semi heading south on Country Road 33 collided with a pickup driving west, according to Lt. Steve Todd of the Clay County Sheriff's Department .

The avenue was controlled by a stop sign, he added.

The driver of the semi, who was unconscious when authorities arrived, was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a hospital, said Todd.

The driver and a passenger in the pickup, who were conscious when rescue workers arrived, were taken by ground ambulance to a hospital, according to Todd.

Names and conditions were not available.

The semi cab had Matt Horn Trucking painted on the side.

Part of the semi was in one ditch of Country Road 33 and part of the pickup was in the other ditch. Large pieces of both vehicles remained on the road about 2:15 p.m.
