Sewage leak closes Mandan City Hall

MANDAN, N.D. -- Workers at City Hall were told to stay away from their offices while officials cleaned up a leak that spread the odor of sewage through the building.

MANDAN, N.D. -- Workers at City Hall were told to stay away from their offices while officials cleaned up a leak that spread the odor of sewage through the building.

The smell started filling city offices early last week, and the problem was traced Friday to a broken sewer line. The Morton County Library also was closed.

Officials say 30 gallons of raw sewage were pumped out of the building and city offices should reopen on Monday.

Maintenance worker Dan Perry said it was the most damage he has dealt with in six years on the job.

"Everything's always caught and fixed right away so there's no problem," Perry said. "This, we couldn't find."
