Shanley receives award

Fargo Shanley High School was one of four schools in the nation to receive a School of Excellence Award at the 2003 National Speech Tournament sponsored by the National Forensic League.

Fargo Shanley High School was one of four schools in the nation to receive a School of Excellence Award at the 2003 National Speech Tournament sponsored by the National Forensic League.

The award went to schools that earned participation in 40 or more rounds of competition during the weeklong tournament in Atlanta. Shanley teams were involved in 60 elimination rounds.

Ryan Thoreson and Megan Kosse of Shanley placed fourth among 194 teams in the policy debate division.

Paul Storm of Shanley was 10th in the Lincoln-Douglas debates. Adam Torson of Fargo South placed 12th.

Shanley's Brady Littlefield and Natalia Espejo attained round of 40 in policy debate.

Jeff Bozovsky made it to the semifinals in storytelling.

More than 2,500 students from across the nation competed in the event, held at Georgia State University. The tournament involved speech, debate and student congress.
