WEST FARGO — The city of West Fargo will host a public input meeting on Sheyenne Street reconstruction from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the VFW Post 7564, 444 Sheyenne St.
The meeting will allow residents to discuss proposed street improvements to Sheyenne Street, from Main Avenue to Eighth Avenue West in West Fargo.
The initial design proposes:
- Narrowing the existing road width.
- Increasing sidewalk widths.
- Slowing traffic.
- Reducing crossing distance at intersections.
- Easing pedestrian and motorists' safety concerns.
- Improving lighting.
The goal is to create a vibrant downtown and encourage walking, events and improve economic development in the area, according to the city.

The project is being funded with a $2.3 million grant from the North Dakota Department of Transportation's Urban Grant Program, which focuses on transportation improvements that support a community's urban core and central business district. The city of West Fargo was one of six communities chosen by an advisory committee.
