MOORHEAD - A man charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting here in March pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge.

Samuel "Philly" Bullock Jr., 25, pleaded guilty in Clay County District Court to first-degree assault with great bodily harm, a felony.

He had been charged with attempted murder and seven other charges related to a March 6 incident in which police alleged he and another man, Michael Crittenden, went to the home of former Minnesota State University Moorhead football player Anthony Sands for a drug deal.

Police said in court doc-uments that Crittenden told investigators Bullock shot Sands in the stomach with a rifle after saying he was going to take Sands' cash and drugs.

Bullock is set for sentencing Oct. 14.

Crittenden pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge in July and was sentenced to an additional seven months in jail.
