ALEXANDRIA, Minn. - A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured and five 18-year-olds sustained minor injuries when their SUV struck a semi on Interstate 94 and rolled several times near here Monday, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

The injury to 17-year-old Zachary Fennessy of Prior Lake is not believed to be life-threatening, the patrol said in a news release.

The patrol said the teenagers were riding in a 2004 Honda Pilot at about 5:38 p.m. when the SUV quickly caught up to a semitrailer and swerved to the left to pass it. The right side of the SUV struck the left side of the semi, then went off the road and rolled in the median several times.

Fennessy, a passenger in the SUV, was ejected.
