PELICAN RAPIDS, Minn. - A North Dakota man died Sunday after his snowmobile went through the ice on Pelican Lake.

Cody Livingood, 25, of Langdon, went missing under the water after his snowmobile plunged through the ice next to open water by the river channel Sunday morning, according to Otter Tail County authorities.

The accident was reported after a woman was heard yelling for help around 2:30 a.m.

Rescue teams found Livingood two hours after the 911 call. He was airlifted to a Fargo hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Lacey Johnson, 21, of Fargo, survived the accident.
